System for Administration, Training, and Educational Resources for NASA (SATERN).
SATERN is the NASA-wide Learning Management System. Civil servants and contractors have access to SATERN.

SATERN Web Address:
https://satern.nasa.gov

SATERN was updated on June 2012. The log-on button is now red and located on right side of the screen.
SATERN’s login process is consistent with NASA’s Access Launchpad and uses the employee’s Agency User ID (AUID) and profile password.  Depending on how you log into your computer, you may not be directed to Launchpad but may be taken directly to SATERN.

In March 2012, the use of the SATERN IDP was discontinued. Click here for more information.

SATERN Help Desk: 1-877-NSSC123 (1-877-677-2123) or NSSC-SaternSupport@nasa.gov. The SATERN Help Desk is available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 8:00pm Eastern time. Emergency support will be available after hours.

CONFERENCE GUIDANCE SEPTEMBER 2012:
The first characters in the course title field should be identified as “CONF” followed by the Conference Identifier number (code) from the NASA Conference Tracking System (NCTS).
Example: CONF 10160-09-ST; AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference
The link to NCTS is https://ncts.nasa.gov/index.cfm. If you can’t locate a Conference Identifier number (code), contact the LaRC Conference POC found at http://www1.nasa.gov/offices/ocfo/nasaonly/ncts/poc.html
OHCM will only fund conferences when the attendee is presenting a paper, chairing a session, or staffing an exhibit. If attendance does not meet one of these criteria, the organization will have to fund the registration via alternate procurement procedures.

Change in SATERN process - Recording no-cost external training to the SATERN Learning History.
If an employee attends a no-cost external training class and wants this to be posted to their SATERN Learning History, the employee should submit a SATERN Request for External Training (SF-182) prior to the course start date.
NOTE: Only the following courses will be added to the SATERN Learning History:

  • Courses eight (8) hours in length or longer.
  • Courses mandatory for the employee’s position OR
  • Courses needed for certifications, such as COTR, PM, etc.

Additional information about SATERN and a web-based tutorial can be found at https://saterninfo.nasa.gov.
